The Hard Backpack Armor (see specifications below) is the brother product to the soft backpack armor, making a trade of having a higher weight but being able to provide more protection: Independently tested to NIJ 0101.06 standards, the Level III version of this plate is rated to stop 7.62x51 M80 Ball (.308 win) at up to 2,780 fps, as well as all lesser threats, while the Level III+ version is rated to stop .223/.308 WIN rounds, 5.56 M855 penetrators, and 7.62x39/7.62x51/5.56 M193s all at velocities of up to 3,000 feet per second. As for weight, the Level III weighs 8.5 pounds while the Level III+ Lightweight weighs 9 - making both about the weight of two textbooks. Designed to fit directly in the main compartment of most backpacks, this plate can fit well without a dedicated department, but also is well accommodated by laptop pocket (in most cases alongside your laptop) or hydration pouch pocket. As such, it is ready to be brought with you to your next outing without the need for any other accessories - just your preferred backpack or travel bag will do.
